BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) \u2014 The\u00a0Colombia\u00a0office of the U.S. government agency that oversees foreign aid and development funding said its Facebook page was\u00a0hacked\u00a0and asked the public to ignore any posts or links from the account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\u00a0United States Agency for International Development\u00a0and the U.S. Embassy in Bogota said in a statement issued Saturday that staff members \u201cidentified an unauthorized access, resulting in a potential risk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement did not identify the risk or explain if the breach involved ransomware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Facebook page of USAID\u2019s Colombia program displayed the message: \u201cThis content isn\u2019t available right now.\u201d The agency did not immediately respond to questions from The Associated Press on the impact and status of the hack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe urge all Facebook users and the general public to exercise caution and ignore any posts or links that originate from the compromised USAID Colombia Facebook account,\u201d the agency said in its statement. \u201cOur team is actively working to restore account security and investigate the extent of the breach.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
